About Us
he Union of Evangelical Students of India (UESI) began its journey in 1954 with a vision to evangelize and disciple students across India. Over the decades, this movement expanded to various states, including Goa.
In Goa, UESI’s presence was established through the dedication of students and graduates who initiated prayer cells and Bible study groups in colleges. These gatherings fostered spiritual growth and fellowship among students, aligning with UESI’s mission to nurture disciples of Jesus Christ.
Today, UESI Goa continues to impact students by organizing regular Bible studies, leadership training, and outreach programs, aiming to transform campuses and society through the gospel.
The Founder
zoology professor at Visakhapatnam Medical College, Prof. Enoch was deeply involved with the Student Christian Movement (SCM). However, he became concerned about SCM’s theological direction, particularly its stance on the authority of Scripture. In 1948, he felt a divine calling to initiate an evangelical student movement that upheld the Bible as the Word of God. After moving to Presidency College in Madras (now Chennai) in 1949, he began hosting prayer meetings at his home on Poonamallee High Road, which became the seedbed for what would eventually become UESI.
The Union of Evangelical Students of India (UESI) is a national Christian movement that began in 1954 with a mission to reach students with the gospel of Jesus Christ and nurture them into responsible disciples and leaders. UESI works primarily in colleges and universities, organizing Bible studies, leadership training, discipleship programs, and evangelistic outreach. Rooted in the evangelical faith, the movement upholds the authority of Scripture and encourages students to integrate their academic life with spiritual growth. UESI is known for building Christ-centered communities on campuses across India, shaping young people to be witnesses in the Church, society, and professional life. In Goa, UESI continues this vision by engaging students in fellowship, mentoring, and missions.
